The Firm

The firm was founded in 2015 by attorney Maria Augusta Santos Parretti and advises clients in Brazil and abroad.

Our practice is divided into two sides. One guides decisions before they turn into risk, such as how to structure a transaction and what to sign, or not. The other defends our client once the dispute already exists, in both administrative and court proceedings. Both require the business to be properly understood before the rule is discussed. That is how we work.

The founder

Maria Augusta Santos Parretti read law at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie on a full scholarship and holds postgraduate specialisations in Tax Law from CEU Law School and in Portuguese Language from PUC-SP, where she taught Legal Language as an Assistant Professor.

Before and throughout her career in law, she worked as a Grammar and Composition teacher and as a copy editor. She has revised more than twenty published books, along with theses, dissertations and technical papers. That changes how the firm writes: an ambiguous contract is one that someone will probably read against you, just as a confusing defence is one the judge will certainly not finish reading.

How we work

Most of what we do is preventive. Structuring the transaction, reviewing the contract and putting tax obligations in order cost less than arguing about the liability later, and they spare the client the real strain of court proceedings.

When a dispute cannot be avoided, we act at every level and in both spheres, administrative and judicial. Each solution is scaled to the size of our client, whether an individual, a rural producer or a company.

We work in Portuguese and English.
